In recent years, Tulum has rightly established itself as one of the world’s premier beach Destinations. Boasting spectacular Mayan ruins overlooking the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea, you would be hard pressed to find a more Instagram-worthy spot anywhere in the Americas. Here are 15 reasons why the town should be on everyone’s bucket list.

1. Visit the Mayan Ruins

The 13th-century Mayan archeological ruins are not the largest in Mexico, but their beachfront location makes them a truly amazing sight. The cliff watchtower, or Castillo, is one of the most photographed places in the country.

2. Tulum’s Incredible Beaches

Although Playa Ruinas is the most famous beach in the region, there are many other options. Paradise Beach, or Paradise Beach, is never far from the top of the list of recommendations from any location. The almost transparent water of Tulum and its pristine white sand make it a coastal destination that you will not quickly forget.

4. Zip-line through paradise

Adventure and sports companies such as Mayan Adventures offer the most adventurous travelers the opportunity to fly in zip lines over the canopy of the Mayan jungle. The company offers tours that last about six hours and can also include the opportunity to rappel on a 60-foot (18-meter) rock and snorkel in an underground cenote.

5. Sample the local cuisine

Tulum has established itself as one of the many food centers in Mexico, with trendy restaurants like Mur Mur that offer exciting dining experiences. Dedicated to obtaining all its ingredients from local producers, the acclaimed restaurant opened in December 2015 and has already left its mark on the Mexican culinary scene.

6. Nightlife + Bar HOpping

Tulum has many nightlife options, which include excellent beach parties and live music. We recommend Batey for its relaxed atmosphere, cocktails and live music. Papaya Playa Project is another great option if what you like most is a beach club environment.
