1. Stay in town if you’re on a budget
The beach is much more expensive than staying in the city, where many of the hostels are located. Most beach accommodation options start at around $50/night and can cost hundreds, while you can get a bedroom in the city of Tulum for less than $ 10.
2. Visit between Oct – Dec for the best deals
In Tulum that means avoiding the January-March high season, and heading over sometime between October and December. That way you will avoid the rain and hurricane season.
3. Hire a bike to explore
Tulum Town is just two kilometers from the beach, an easy cycle. It is an excellent way to move economically and efficiently, although you may want to take a taxi if you plan to have a drink.
4. Visit a less popular cenote
Most people who visit Tulum want to see one of the limestone sinks known as cenotes. There are many of them, and they vary widely in terms of size, price and attractiveness. If you want to save money, get the $ 6 double ticket for Cenote Escondido and Cenote Cristal just outside the city. Other cenotes such as Dos Ojos can cost up to $ 25 per person.

6. Protect the Environment
Tulum has grown so fast that it is difficult to deal with the amount of waste produced by locals and visitors. Do your part by reducing the amount of plastic bottles you use and rejecting straws in bars and restaurants.
7. Visit the Mayan Ruins
It may be tempting to simply hang out on the beach, but it would be a shame to miss the Mayan ruins. They are some of the only ones found on the coast of the ancient Mayan world, and they are excellent photos.
